Photographer Vasiliy Sigovatoff
Nice to meet you! My name is Vasiliy Sigovatoff. I reside in Astrakhan, South of Russia. That is near Caspian Sea. I have graduated from the Astrakhan State University. I studied foreign languages and psychology and have Master of Art degree. I have been engaged in photography since 1989 when I recieved my first soviet Smena 8M camera as a present. In 90s I shot with the soviet Zenit E and now I use mostly Rolleiflex 6001 pro with two lenses Planar 80/2,8 and Sonnar 150/4 and Fujifilm S3 Pro with a soft-focus lens of the vintage design.
I do not make difference between film or digital. The main aim I pursue is plastic reconsideration of reality. That is creation of images which look vintage by removing uncessary details and creating unique "vintage" contrast and shades of tones. My primary purpose is to give to the image special atmosphere and mood which adds much to "out-of-time" look. Sometimes this involves much editing because the shot is only "the negative" and the edited image is the "photograph itself".
My primary interests in photography genres are portrait, vintage interior, old architecture and social.
